Juveniles
The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over juveniles (16 years or younger) charged with Class C misdemeanor offenses and traffic offenses except public intoxication. All juveniles are required to appear in open court for all proceedings on their cases. All persons 16 years of age or under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. In the event of an alcohol or tobacco related offense, all persons 17 years of age or under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Juveniles who fail to appear in court may have an additional charge of failure to appear filed against them. Juveniles who fail to appear or who fail to pay their fine will be reported to the Department of Public Safety and their driver's license will be suspended. If they do not have a driver's license, they will not be able to obtain one until they have disposed of their case.
