About Public Works
The City of Brenham Public Works Department delivers various services that Brenham's citizens rely on daily. The Public Works Department is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of 7 departments consisting of approximately 47 employees. Those departments are:

Parks - This department is responsible for operating and maintaining 183.5 acres of Parkland. Facilities include 15 soccer fields, 12 baseball/softball fields, 3 community kitchens, 2-walking/jogging trails, 1 antique carousel, 4 pavilions, and 1 hike and bike trail.

Streets - This department is responsible for operating and maintaining over 81 miles of streets and drainage within the City of Brenham. The Street Department is also responsible for keeping tree limbs out of the roadway, installing/replacing street signs, and managing right-of-way vegetation within the City of Brenham limits.

Facility/Fleet Maintenance - This department is responsible for managing and maintaining the City of Brenham's municipal facilities along with its fleet. Facilities that are maintained by this department include City Hall, Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library, Brenham Municipal Airport, Donald G. Austin Memorial Animal Shelter, Blue Bell Aquatic Center, Boys and Girls Club, Brenham Heritage Museum and all other facilities that are owned by the City of Brenham.

Sanitation - The Sanitation department has four divisions that allow the City of Brenham to quietly and efficiently manage solid waste for final disposal or reuse. These divisions include the Brenham Transfer Station, Brenham Collection Station, Residential Collection, and the Brenham Recycling Center.
