Brenham, TX

The City of Brenham would like to notify the public of a road closure regarding Burleson Street.

Beginning Monday, January 13th work with begin on the Little Sandy Creek crossing located in the 1900 Block of Burleson St. (between Benton Dr. and Blue Bell Rd (FM 577)). Work consists of removing the existing corrugated culverts, guardrails, and roadways. A new bridge structure will be added along with a new roadway to alleviate the current issues that were caused by the 2016 and 2017 floods. These improvements will make this area safer for the general public and allow for better flow during major rain events.

It is expected that this closure will be approximately 4-5 months if weather conditions are favorable. Completion is expected mid-May. A detour around this construction area will use Lounge Rd, Business 36 and Blue Bell Rd (FM 577). The road will be closed to thru traffic, but local traffic may enter for access to residences from the southside of the construction area.
