Ribbon Cutting - Splash Pad at Henderson Park

After a soft opening last June, the City of Brenham will celebrate the splash pad's official ribbon-cutting at Henderson Park on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 3:00 pm. Henderson Park is located at 902 N. Park St. The splash pad is open seasonally from April 1-September 30 and is free to the public. Due to the current drought watch, the Splash Pad will observe reduced hours of 2 PM to 7 PM for the month of April.  "The City of Brenham is very excited to open the Splashpad for the second season and grateful for our partnership with BCDC and HEB to make these improvements a reality," said Dane Rau, Director of Public Utilities. He continued, "We take great pride in listening to the public with the survey after the first season and hope everyone will enjoy the added amenities."

Brenham Parks and Recreation staff collaborated with Vortex Aquatic Structures Inc. last year to develop a new and innovative water play designed to foster imagination and social play. The splash pad is approximately 3,000 sq. ft. Features are grouped into three levels: toddler bay, family bay, and teen bay.

In recent months, the following improvements have been made to the splash pad, courtesy Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC):

  • Sidewalks for connectivity
  • Single-family restroom
  • Additional seating
  • Bike rack

A shade structure was also constructed, compliments of the HEB Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust.

A ribbon-cutting celebration for the Splash Pad will be held at Henderson Park on April 15, 2021, at 3:30 PM. The public is welcome.
