YellowTruck Market Retail Incubator Coming Soon

New Retail Incubator to Open in Downtown Brenham in Fall 2021

Brenham | Washington County Economic Development and Main Street Brenham announce a collaboration with YellowTruck LLC owner Tiffany McMordie-Morisak to develop a retail incubator in Downtown Brenham. The incubator, YellowTruck Market, will be housed at 101 E. Main Street.

Economic Development Director Susan Cates said the retail incubator is a project she has envisioned for years, but the confluence of time, people, and resources came together this year with Morisak's purchase of this highly visible downtown property.

"Being able to partner with Tiffany and Main Street," Cates said, "has put all the players together who can support different aspects of creating a successful and thriving retail incubator."

The incubator team is currently looking for businesses within a 60-mile radius of Brenham already selling their products online or through a social media presence. Selection criteria include products that fill downtown retail business gaps like men's and children's items; jewelry makers, bakers, merchandise designers, leather or wood crafters, or other emerging artisan/maker businesses; and minority-owned businesses. The retail incubator will assist participating businesses with training, cost-sharing, rent, and promotion.

Director of Tourism and Marketing Jennifer Eckermann indicated that Downtown Brenham is an ideal place to launch the incubator. She continued, "Downtown is thriving and truly represents an authentic Texas identity for regional businesses and Texas maker/creators. In addition to having loads of support from the local community, there's also excitement as we continue to grow as a tourism destination."

Morisak said that YellowTruck Market is a business dedicated to filling retail gaps in Downtown Brenham, and to products designed, crafted, built, and made in this region of Texas. "I'm excited to use this space to provide businesses and makers an opportunity to strengthen and grow,” she said, “and to work with the Economic Development and Main Street teams on this project."

Applications to participate in the retail incubator program are available online at YellowTruckLLC.com/MarketApp and will be accepted through August 30, 2021. YellowTruck Market is scheduled to open this fall.
