South Chappell Hill Street Utility Work phase 2 - starting May 30, 2023

Notification #2 (PHASE 2 WORK BEGINS) - May 30, 2023

South Chappell Hill Road Closure

The City of Brenham would like to notify the public of road improvements regarding S. Chappell Hill between Market Street (Bus 290) and the 290 Feeder Road. In October, City Council awarded a contract to Larry Young Paving to conduct major reconstruction work on S. Chappell Hill St. (between Market St and 290 Feeder).

Phase 2, (Stringer St. to Bus 290) will begin this week. The contractor will work one side of the road at a time, and this will be one-way. This will always be westbound traffic from Business 290 (Dairy Bar) to Stringer St. This is best, due to traffic control on 290 feeder and allows residents to get back to town easily. Access to these areas will need to be strictly from 290 feeder. Once one side of the road gets completed, the contractor will convert traffic over and reconstruct the other side (still westbound flow). The contractor will work with residents and businesses regarding access to their properties. At times when concrete is scheduled to be poured, delays will be expected but access will be allowed and worked around. Driveways and entrances will be open and worked half at a time.

Chappell Hill St from Market to Stringer will be one way as well. This is the new section that was completed as Phase 1. Refer to map below.

Phase 1 - January 25, 2023

This work will take place between South Market Street and Becker Drive. The South bound lane will be closed and detoured to perform the work safely. The utility work will also begin on January 25, 2023, and end on February 1, 2023. Work zones and traffic control will be present where work is occurring.
