Brenham Fire Department Cancels 2023 Annual Fish Fry

The Brenham Fire Department announced today, February 23, 2023, that they will not be hosting their annual fish fry due to scheduling conflicts.

The annual fish fry is a major fundraising event for the fire department and Brenham Firefighters Association. Money from the event has been used for critical items such as the Jaws of Life, air bags, struts, Thermal Imaging cameras, Wildland and Rescue firefighting gear, etc.

“We know this is something the community looks forward to each year during Lenten season,” said Fire Chief Roger Williams. He continued, “We want to apologize to the citizens of Brenham and Washington County that we couldn’t make it work this year. We felt it was the right thing to do under the circumstances.”

The Fireman's Training and Event Center was accidentally booked for another function on the same date of the annual fish fry. Alternate dates were chosen but soon realized that neighboring Myersville Fire Department was having a fish fry on that date. All other alternate available dates were exhausted because Fireman’s Training and Event Center was booked.

All members and volunteers of the Brenham Fire Department and the Brenham Firefighters Association thank the community for their understanding and continued support.
