Road Construction for S. Chappell Hill Road Beginning March 8, 2023

The City of Brenham would like to notify the public of road improvements regarding S. Chappell Hill between Market Street (Bus 290) and 290 Feeder Road. In October, City Council awarded a contract to Larry Young Paving to conduct major reconstruction work on S. Chappell Hill St. (between Market St and 290 Feeder).

Now that utility work has been completed, road work for S. Chappell Hill St is expected to start on Wednesday morning March 8th and last until August 1st. Work will consist of removing the existing pavement and going back with an all-concrete street surface as well as replacing some sections of curb.

S Chappell Hill St Road Work Map

In Phase 1, starting Wednesday, March 8th, the contractor will close the section of S. Chappell Hill St from Market St to Stringer St. A detour onto Becker will be outlined once this is done. This section will be closed during the duration of the project.  Based on this closure all businesses and homes will still have some sort of access just not from S. Chappell Hill St in this section.

In Phase 2, (Stringer St to Bus 290) the contractor will work one side of the road at a time and will be one-way. This will always be westbound traffic from Business 290 to Stringer St. This is best due to traffic control on 290 feeder and allows residents to get back to town easily. Access to these areas will need to be strictly from the 290 feeder. Once one side of the road gets completed, the contractor will convert traffic over and reconstruct the other side (Still Westbound). The contractor will work with residents and businesses regarding access to their properties. At times when concrete is scheduled to be poured, delays will be expected but access will be allowed and worked around.

We asked that you be patient with the construction process and respect the work zones and the safety of the construction workers.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call.
