The Brenham Police Department responded to a call of shots fired on April 1, 2023, at approximately 10:00 PM, in the 1200 block of E Tom Green St., where a birthday party was being hosted. Officers were notified that a large crowd of teens was fighting, and at least one person had been shot. Officers arrived on the scene and found numerous teens and parents fleeing the area. Officers located two shooting victims, whom off-duty paramedics treated until Washington County EMS arrived. Washington County EMS transported both victims to the Baylor Scott & White emergency room, where one victim was later pronounced dead. The other victim was treated and released from the hospital.
