Brenham Police Department Criminal Investigations Division Identifies Suspect in September 2023 Weapon-Related Incident at Brenham High School

The Brenham Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division, in collaboration with the Department of Public Safety, has successfully identified and apprehended a suspect concerning the incident that occurred at Brenham High School on September 28, 2023, involving a weapon.

Anthony Carrasco, a 35-year-old resident of Pasadena, has been identified as the suspect following a thorough investigation. The incident prompted the immediate response of multiple emergency service agencies to ensure the safety of the school and its occupants.

Carrasco has been taken into custody in the Houston area and is currently held in the Harris County Jail on other charges. The transfer of Carrasco to Washington County is pending, where he will face charges related to the September 28, 2023 incident at Brenham High School.

The collaborative effort between the Brenham Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division and the Department of Public Safety highlights the dedication of law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. On Thursday, September 28, 2023, at approximately 3:42 P.M., law enforcement agencies were notified of a possible suicidal subject near the school with a firearm. Multiple law enforcement agencies began checking the area, and several went to Brenham High School to meet with the School Resource Officers on location. Out of precaution for student and staff safety, due to the call type and the person reportedly being in the vicinity of the school Brenham High School was placed in lockdown. Officers checked all buildings on the campus to ensure the safety of everyone on campus and the public in the area. The reported subject was not located and there is no further information at this time. A further investigation into this matter will be conducted. Law enforcement agencies that were on location that assisted the Brenham Police Department were Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Blinn College Police Department, and Washington County Constable Officers.
