The Little Free Library in City Parks

Three new Little Free Libraries have been added to three of our local parks: Jerry Wilson, Hattie Mae Flowers, and Jackson Street will join the movement to share books, bring people together, and create a community of readers.

You can find a Little Free Library near you using the organization's online map.

Original Press Release

March 22, 2021 - Little Free Library (LFL) is the world's largest book-sharing movement.

The Fortnightly Club and City of Brenham will host a grand opening for our Little Free Libraries on Tuesday, April 6, starting at 4:00 pm, full schedule below. The celebration is open to the public. We invite families to bring a book to help stock our libraries and share it with the community. The Fortnightly Club will continually monitor the libraries to ensure books remain appropriate and also restock when needed.

  • 4:00 pm - Jerry Wilson Park, 900 E. Alamo Street
  • 5:00 pm – Hattie Mae Flowers Park, 700 MLK Drive
  • 6:00 pm – Jackson Street Park, 1300 S. Jackson Street

"Our Little Free Libraries don't just belong to us; it belongs to the entire community," says Crystal Locke. "It's our hope that this Little Free Library will bring joy, connection, and a whole lot more books to our community."

"The Little Free Libraries are for all ages - we have books for adults and children, fiction and non-fiction, we even have some books in Spanish," says Suzy Hankins, a member of the Fortnightly Club.
