Fire at City of Brenham Maintenance Building Contained

Published 10-30-2025 10:19 am - The City of Brenham had a structure fire late yesterday evening at the City of Brenham Maintenance Building at the 500 block of S. Austin St. At approximately 11:38 pm, the Brenham Fire Department was dispatched to the scene for reports of heavy smoke from the facility's roof. Firefighters arrived quickly and brought the fire under control.

City staff have secured the site, and the Texas Municipal League (TML) will investigate to determine the cause of the fire.

The assisting responding units included – City Utilities, Brenham PD, Washington County EMS, Salem Volunteer Fire Department, Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department, and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department.

“The quick action of our fire department and the support from neighboring volunteer departments helped contain the fire and prevent further damage,” said Mayor Atwood Kenjura. “We are grateful for their quick and professional response.”
