City of Brenham Launches Text Message System for Utility Customers

The City of Brenham is launching a new bi-directional text message notification system using Milsoft and Whispir. Beginning December 8, 2025, utility customers can receive real-time outage updates and quickly report outages by text - saving time and improving restoration efforts.

How it works

Customers with a current cell number on file will be automatically enrolled. Text any of the following keywords to (979) 337-7400:

  • OUT – report an outage
  • STATUS – check outage status
  • HELP – get information
  • STOP – opt out
  • UNSTOP – opt back in

Please save (979) 337-7400 as a City of Brenham contact. To ensure we have your current cell number, visit the Billing Customer Portal at cityofbrenham.org/utilities, scan the QR code, or call (979) 337-7400. New customers will be auto-enrolled and may opt out after receiving the welcome text.

The Outage Alert system will automatically notify customers when an electric meter detects an outage, when power is restored, and for other important updates.

The Public Utilities Department remains committed to improving reliability and customer service, and this new system will help keep customers informed during outages. Message and data rates may apply.

For questions or concerns regarding this project, please contact the City of Brenham Public Utilities Department at 979-337-7400.
