City of Brenham Announces Retirement of City Manager Carolyn Miller

The City of Brenham announced today that City Manager Carolyn Miller has notified the Mayor and City Council of her intent to retire effective March 25, 2026, concluding a distinguished 45-year professional career and 21 years of service to the City of Brenham.

Carolyn joined the City in May 2005 and has served in multiple leadership roles, including Director of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, Assistant City Manager, and, since September 2021, City Manager. Throughout her tenure, Miller has been instrumental in guiding the City through financial stewardship, organizational growth, and major capital projects.

In December 2023, Miller announced her retirement, but at the request of Mayor Atwood Kenjura and the City Council, she agreed to continue serving as City Manager to provide stability and continuity during a period of major projects and leadership transitions. At that time, Fire Station No. 2 was expected to be completed in August 2025. The project is now scheduled for completion in April 2026. Mayor Atwood Kenjura expressed appreciation for Miller’s continued leadership and service. “Carolyn’s extended time as City Manager has provided stability and strong leadership during a period of significant transition for our City,” said Mayor Kenjura. “The Council and I are grateful for her willingness to stay and see major projects through completion while helping prepare the organization for the future.”

The Mayor, City Council, and colleagues expressed their gratitude for Miller’s decades of service, dedication, and strong leadership.
