Summary
The City of Brenham has been awarded a grant from the National Park Service (NPS) to be administered by the TPWD to construct hike and bike trails and ancillary facilities to serve the proposed Brenham Family Park, located south of Highway 290 off South Chappel Hill Street in Brenham. The grant is authorized by Section 6(f) of the Land and Water Conservation Act, as administered by the NPS. A provision of the grant is that the City must complete the NPS National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Assessment (EA) document for the project. The EA is designed to evaluate the potential for adverse environmental impacts of developing the park site.
The EA was completed by Wild Associates on October 30, 2023. The City submitted an application to NPS on December 17, 2021; the approval of the application is subject to approval of the EA. Members of the public are encouraged to review and comment on the EA and its findings.
