Bridge Construction Update on Burleson Low Crossing

Update 10-14-2025: The City of Brenham continues the drainage improvement project to replace the low water crossing on Burleson Street near the 1500 block with a new bridge structure. Construction began in mid-August and will continue through February 2026.

Total closure will begin October 20th. Only local traffic will be allowed. Please use the detour route or another route. Full closure of the crossing is expected until February 2026.

Residents north of the crossing will access via Lounge Road, while those south will enter from Blue Bell Road. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please use caution in the area and respect all posted detours.

Posted 2025-08: The City of Brenham will be working on a drainage improvement project on Burleson Road. Beginning mid-August 2025, construction will replace the existing low-water crossing near the 1500 block of Burleson Road with a new, elevated bridge structure. This critical infrastructure project will improve access and safety for residents during heavy rain events.

Project Timeline

Construction is expected to continue through February 2026. During the initial phases, Burleson Road will remain open, although periodic closures may occur to thru traffic. As construction progresses, a full road closure at the low-water crossing will be required to safely complete the bridge work.

Detour Information

  • Residents north of the construction site should use Lounge Road for access.
  • Residents south of the construction site can access their properties via Blue Bell Road.
  • Work crews and heavy equipment will be active in the area, so please proceed with caution and be patient during this time.

Work Schedule

Construction hours will be Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Solid Bridge Construction has been contracted to complete the project. The City of Brenham and the contractor are committed to maintaining property access and clear communication throughout the project.
