City of Brenham Launches Warranty Water Meter Replacement Project

The City of Brenham has contracted with Meter Matters to complete the City of Brenham Warranty Water Meter Replacement Project, which includes replacing 2,689 water meters throughout the City’s water distribution system. The project will take place in two phases:

Phase 1 – Meter Box Cleaning

Beginning November 10, 2025, Meter Matters started cleaning dirt and debris from inside all 2,689 water meter boxes. A hydro excavation machine is being used to safely remove material from inside each meter box, with work strictly contained within the meter box area.

Phase 2 – Meter Replacement

Starting December 1, 2025, Meter Matters will begin replacing the existing meters. Property owners will receive a door hanger notice two days before their scheduled meter change-out. Water service will be temporarily interrupted for approximately 30 minutes while the meter is replaced.

The project is expected to be completed by late February 2026. Please note that no work will take place during the Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks.
