Megan Mainer Named City Manager

The City of Brenham announced today at its October 1, 2026, City Council meeting that Megan Mainer will serve as City Manager. Megan has been serving as Interim City Manager since Carolyn Miller’s retirement. She has been a key member of the City’s leadership team and has ensured a seamless transition.

Megan was hired as Assistant City Manager in May 2025, selected as Interim City Manager in April 2026, and has fulfilled both roles for the past five months. She was previously employed at the City of Angleton and has over 17 years of municipal government experience. 

Mayor Atwood Kenjura stated, “We are thrilled to offer Megan the position of City Manager. She has led this organization seamlessly for the last 4-5 months since Carolyn’s retirement. Megan has earned the trust of our organization and community, and I know she will continue moving our city forward with strength and integrity.”

Megan credits the strength of the City’s team with its ability to navigate the personnel, budgetary, and operational constraints that are inherent in local government while continuing to move important projects forward. For Megan, effective leadership means bringing people together around a shared purpose, empowering employees to do their best work, and staying focused on making a positive, lasting impact on the Brenham community.

“It’s been an honor to have served as Interim City Manager for the last few months, and I’m excited to step into the role of City Manager. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to lead an organization filled with talented, dedicated people who care deeply about this community. I look forward to working alongside our City Council, employees, and community to build on Brenham’s strong foundation while preparing thoughtfully for the opportunities and challenges ahead,” said Mainer.

Outside of City Hall, Mainer enjoys spending time with her husband of nearly 18 years, Mike, who works for the local school district, and their two children, Milo and Maizy. Whether enjoying Milo’s culinary talents or cheering on Maizy from the volleyball sidelines, family is central to Mainer’s life and her connection to the Brenham community.
