City of Brenham Animal Services Cancels Clear the Shelter for September 7, 2024

The City of Brenham Animal Services, with the heaviest of hearts, regrets to announce the cancelation of this weekend’s highly anticipated "Clear the Shelter" event. Due to a mild illness affecting some of the animals in our care, the staff made the difficult decision to prioritize the well-being of our beloved pets and cancel.

"Our top priority is the health and happiness of the animals, and we believe it’s important for every potential adopter to meet their future pet in the best condition possible," said Animal Services Manager Megan Gray. "While the animals are making a speedy recovery with excellent veterinary care, they need just a few more days to be fully ready for adoption."

Although the in-person event, initially scheduled for Saturday, September 7 from 12 PM to 5 PM, has been canceled, Animal Services is still offering free adoptions throughout September to encourage residents to find their forever furry friend. Gray continued, “We are confident that this brief delay will allow for a smoother, healthier transition for pets into their new homes.”

Brenham Animal Services (BAS) has joined NBCUniversal Local’s Clear the Shelters™ 2024 pet adoption campaign. This is the seventh consecutive year that NBC and Telemundo-owned stations present their popular pet adoption campaign to communities nationwide in partnership with affiliate stations and shelters/rescues. Since 2015, NBCUniversal Local’s Clear The Shelters campaign has helped more than half a million pets find new homes.

Come celebrate at BAS on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 12 pm to 5 pm. BAS will offer free pet adoptions, free microchipping, Kona Ice snow cones, a bounce house by Lando’s Fun in the Sun Inflatables, and Touch-A-Truck with the City of Brenham Police and Fire Departments.
