May is Small Business Month
City of Brenham Celebrates Small Business Month with Proclamation and Free Community Events
The City of Brenham is proud to announce that Mayor Atwood Kenjura will officially proclaim May 2026 as Small Business Month in the City of Brenham during the May 7 City Council meeting.
Throughout the month of May, community partners across Washington County will host a variety of free events designed to support, celebrate, educate, and connect local entrepreneurs and small business owners. Events will include networking opportunities, educational workshops, panel discussions, entrepreneur meetups, lunch-and-learns, and Small Business Development Center webinar watch parties.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy,” said Director of Economic Development, Teresa Roslaes. “They create jobs, invest in our community, and help make Brenham a vibrant place to live and work. Small Business Month is an opportunity to recognize their contributions while also providing valuable resources for current and future entrepreneurs.”
Highlighted events throughout the month include:
- Weekly 1MillionCups entrepreneur gatherings
- Business workshops and leadership discussions
- Marketing and e-commerce educational sessions
- Networking events hosted by local chambers and organizations
- A featured luncheon panel titled ‘Leading Through Noise: Keeping Your Team Focused in Today’s Environment’
Most events are free, but some do require advance registration due to limited seating. You can find the full event calendar, registration links, and more details on the Brenham Washington County Economic Development website at www.BrenhamED.com, then click on “News.”
